Notice of Kuhio Highway Intersection Improvements at Kapa’a
Bypass – Public Informational Meeting
The Hawaii State Department of Transportation (HDOT) is planning improvements at the intersection of Kuhio Highway and Kapa’a Bypass Road located in Kapa’a, Kauai. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to fund the project. The HDOT is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) in compliance with HRS Chapter 343, Hawaii’s environmental impact statement law, to evaluate and disclose the project’s potential environmental impacts and identify any potential permitting requirements. At this time, HDOT is seeking input on the project information provided below, as well as information related to any environmental, social, or economic concerns related to the project or project area.
There will be a public meeting held at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort at 650 Aleka Loop, Kapa’a, HI 96746 on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The meeting space will be the “Makai Ballroom, Patio & Lawn”.
