Public Scoping Meeting

The Hawai’i Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is proposing to relocate the Kaua’i Community Correctional Center — currently located off of Kuhio Highway across from the Wailua Golf Course — to an area north of Hanama’ulu.

An EIS Preparation Notice (EISPN) was published in The Environmental Notice bulletins on Dec. 8, 2025 and Jan. 8, 2026. The Public Scoping Meeting
that was originally scheduled for December 17, 2025, was canceled due to a widespread power outage that impacted the meeting venue.
The meeting has been rescheduled to Jan. 20, 2026.
