AVELINA &Quot;ABA&Quot; MARUYAMA

Avelina "Aba" Maruyama (née Agbulos), 69, of Kekaha, Kaua’i, entered eternal rest on May 21, 2026.

Born in Waimea on August 20, 1956, Avelina—affectionately known as "Aba," "Ave," and "Baba" —was known for her kind heart, steady strength, and the endless love she gave her family. She brought warmth to everything she did, working with Kaua’i Stores, Gems, and Poipu Kai, and spending 33 wonderful years with the Kaua’i Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Maruyama; her parents, Aurellano and Consolita Agbulos; and her parents-in-law, Ernest and Margaret Maruyama.

Her sweet memory lives on through her daughter, Nekicia Maruyama; her grandchildren, Tykei Chang Wo and Jordyn Maruyama-Chang Wo (Dylan DeSilva); her great-granddaughter, Keilee DeSilva; her hanai great- grandchildren, Keegan and Kyler; her sisters, Doris Agbulos and Nely (Danilo) Caberto; and all her extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Aba’s life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St. Theresa Parish in Kekaha. Visitation will start at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m.
