She attended Koloa Elementary, Kauai High School and St. Francis School of Nursing in Illinois. Ethel excelled in the nursing field while raising a family, and retired as Director of Nursing at Kauai Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waimea, Kauai. Besides her professional achievements, Ethel was best known for her warmth and generosity, great cooking, love of gambling in Las Vegas, no nonsense demeanor and infectious smile. She dedicated her life to her family and caring for others.

She is survived by her husband Seichi, sons Blaine and Mark, daughter-in-laws Pearl and Wendy, grandchildren Kira, Logan, Noelle and Kailee, and brother Herbert Isoda. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jack "Seishi", Nellie Nakagawa, Takashi "Taka", Stanley "Blackie", Sam "Sada", and Wally "Hachiro" Isoda.

Her memorial service will be held on July 11, 2026 at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai, Kauai at 11:00 am, preceded by visitation with family at 9:30 am.
