– Notice of Public Fact Gathering Meeting –
INSTREAM FLOW STANDARD
FOR THE HYDROLOGIC UNIT OF LAWAI (2050)
COMMISSION ON WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

The staff of the Commission on Water Resource Management (Commission) will be holding a public fact gathering meeting to receive testimony and any additional information to be compiled as part of a Instream Flow Standard Assessment. This will serve as the primary reference of best available information for subsequent amendments to the interim instream flow standard for the surface water hydrologic unit of Lawai (2050) on the Island of Kaua’i.

The public fact gathering meeting will be held on the Island of Kaua’i, as follows:

October 28, 2019 (Monday) Lihu’e Civic Center, Moikeha Conference Room
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 4444 Rice Street, Lihu’e, Hawaii 96766

The public fact gathering meeting is being conducted in accordance with a modified interim instream flow standard process approved by the Commission at its December 13, 2006 meeting. The modified process includes an agency review/public fact gathering component not required by statute, and is consistent with Part VI (Instream Uses of Water) of the State Water Code, Chapter 174C, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Title 13, Chapter 169 (Protection of Instream Uses of Water), Hawaii Administrative Rules.

A public review draft of the Instream Flow Standard Assessment for Lawai is available online on the CWRM website: http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/cwrm/surfacewater/ifs/lawai-2050/
The public review draft may also be reviewed at the Commission office at the Kalanimoku Building, Room 227, 1151 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813.

All interested persons are urged to attend the public fact gathering meeting and submit comments, orally or in writing. The Commission will continue to accept written testimony until December 9, 2019.
