CHARLES KIM FRIEDMAN

Charles "Chuck" Kim Friedman, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 2, 2023, while warming up to play in a tennis tournament in Kona, Hawaii, with friends and his wife, Laura, at the age of 69.

Chuck was born on January 27, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Greta and Stanley Friedman. In junior high he moved to Miami, Florida, where he developed his passion for surfing and later for medicine. Chuck was board-certified in anesthesiology, addiction medicine, and interventional pain medicine. After graduating from medical school at the Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Miami, he moved to Pinellas County, where he opened a successful pain practice and surgery center.

Chuck was a kind, hardworking, funny, and vibrant person, and he lived life to the fullest. He was an avid tennis player, which was how he met his wife Laura, and he enjoyed traveling, music, and learning to play the guitar. He was most at home surfing, and spending time at the beach on the north shore of Kauai with Laura and their dog, Oreo. He was a proud father of two children by a previous marriage, and his daughter and son meant the world to him.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Laura Warren; his daughter, Lia Friedman (Travis); and his son, Jay Friedman. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Elyse Brunt (David), and his brother, Mark Friedman (Terri), and their children.

He will also be sadly missed by Laura’s family: Chuck’s parents-in-law, Darlene and Larry Warren; brother-in-law Alan; and sisters-in-law Cynthia (Marco) and Elizabeth (Caol).

Chuck was predeceased by his parents, Greta (née Kline) and Stanley Friedman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
